Day 1: How are you feeling about your topic choice for the personal narrative? Do you have any reservations about the narrative or topic?

I feel happy with my personal narrative topic. It’s something I hold in great regard and it is a dream I hold tight. As I am currently working on this project, everything about it is familiar and easy to write about. I have no regret writing about this topic.

Day 3: What is your favorite ‘Iolani Fair memory? If you have never attended the Fair, think about other amusement parks or carnivals you have been to in the past.

One of my favorite ‘Iolani Fair memories is when I worked my first fair shift in 7th grade. I signed up with a friend of mine and together we were in charge of one of the game booths for three hours. Standing for 3 hours straight was definitely tough, but it was cool to watchContinue reading “Day 3: What is your favorite ‘Iolani Fair memory? As you are narrowing down your topic, what has been easy for you throughout this process? What has been difficult? Please briefly explain.

One easy part about this whole process has been remembering all the details about the incident. The day and circumstances are all etched into my mind because of how surreal the experience was. One difficult aspect is figuring out what to do with all these details. How do I put all these details together intoContinue reading “As you are narrowing down your topic, what has been easy for you throughout this process? What has been difficult? Out of all of the events you have brainstormed on your timeline, which one is the most vivid? What makes this event stand out from the others you have listed?

One of the most vivid events on my timeline is when my grandma passes away. I remember a lot about the day it happened and what was happening around that time as well. I had just gotten into Iolani, but I wasn’t in school yet. I remember visiting her at the hospital a few timesContinue reading “Out of all of the events you have brainstormed on your timeline, which one is the most vivid? If you could meet anyone in the world, who would you want to meet and why? What two things would you ask this person and why?

I would meet Eiichiro Oda, the creator of one of the best anime series ever written, One Piece. Being an aspiring manga artist myself, I would want to meet him for some advice. First, I would ask him where he gets his inspiration from. Every artist has their own way of finding inspiration for theirContinue reading “If you could meet anyone in the world, who would you want to meet and why? Day 2: Book Talk Reflection. What stuck out to you today in class? Which books sounded most interesting? Which book do you think you will choose for this quarter?

I thought that Colby’s talk about “Sea Biscuit” was pretty cool because he mentioned there being a horse shoe of a famous horse on the Iolani campus. I also heard more about the mountain climbing book which seems like a good book, but doesn’t sound like something that I would be interested in reading sinceContinue reading “Day 2: Book Talk Reflection. Day 1: Book Talk Reflection. What stuck out to you today in class? Which books sounded most interesting? Why did these books appeal to you?

One book that stuck out to me was the book Noah was talking about. This is mostly because I remember reading the same book a few years ago for an English class. To be honest I felt the same way he did in that neither of us could really relate to McCandless and his desireContinue reading “Day 1: Book Talk Reflection. What stuck out to you today in class? Would you rather have to grow all of your own food for the rest of your life or only eat what you can carry in your arms out of the grocery store?

I feel like I could carry a lot with my arms so I would opt for the second choice. Growing all of your food seems like a huge waste of time and energy. Also, if your only growing your own food, your options are much more limited. When I think of growing my own food,Continue reading “Would you rather have to grow all of your own food for the rest of your life or only eat what you can carry in your arms out of the grocery store?”

Listening to Sad Music During Sad Times

I’ve often heard that when people are sad, they have a pre-made playlist of songs to listen to that hold a similar depressed vibe. Maybe the person recently experienced a breakup or maybe they got their report card and received bad grades. Whatever the reason, sad people tend to want to listen to sad songs.Continue reading “Listening to Sad Music During Sad Times”
